"New Citizens Voice plays an essential role in educating new British citizens. Many of the workshop participants have never been a part of a representative democracy like the United Kingdom, and as a result, are unfamiliar with their rights. NCV not only teaches them what those rights are, but also promotes continued civil engagement with all levels of government. The services provided by NCV assure that new citizens can make a cohesive transition into their new political system. As a Parliamentary Outreach Officer, I support NCV's mission and look forward to developing programs together in the future." |

"Syracuse University London has partnered with New Citizens Voice through our internship program for several years. Semester after semester we seek internship placements at NCV because our students always learn about immigration and citizenship in a personal, meaningful way. They are inspired not only by the organization’s ability to empower new British citizens to be active participants in the UK political process but also the warmth, enthusiasm and dedication of NCV staff." |

"New Citizens Voice helped me understand what the extent of my rights are as a British citizen. The workshop gave me the courage to speak up and be assertive, especially when dealing with the National Health Service. Using the skills and information I learned, I was able to assure that I received all the benefits that the NHS has to deliver. NCV and its staff have truly shown me that my voice and opinion matter." |

"New
Citizens Voice plays perhaps one of the most important roles
an organization can in society – it helps individuals
who are often left to fall through society’s cracks.
I was able to see the organization’s Mission
Statement put into action on 23 April 2007 during
the “Your Voice Matters” workshop. The individuals
I saw at the workshop left feeling empowered, having taken
important steps towards the knowledge and confidence that
would permit them to voice their opinions and concerns without
fear." |

"Just a quick note to say thanks
for everything so far. We got brilliant feedback from the
students who all said they had a great time. This exercise
is very worthwhile and a fantastic opportunity for students
to understand their rights and responsibilities and become
more integrated into British society. A number of students
who were unable to attend have asked about participating
in the future, so please keep in touch if you decide to
run the same thing again. Thank you again." |

"I
am very happy to be here today, to be part of this. I have
never been in something like this before, I only saw this
on television but, now I am part of this too. Thank-you,
all of you, very much for helping us to get a better life." |

"What
I enjoyed most today (in the workshop) was everybody expressing
their concerns directly to the council. It is very good
thing for the council to see the involvement of all the
different communities." |

"This
workshop was the most educational experience I have had
here in London; experiencing people from different cultures
was extremely beneficial in understanding issues of immigration
and citizenship. All the participants were taking time out
of their busy lives to participate in ESOL classes. Seeing
the light in their eyes as they tried to learn about English
culture, made me think. They were sitting in a classroom
full of people from more than ten different countries trying
to make a way. They were really trying to make a way for
their children, and I gained a new found envy and respect
for their way of life." |
