Young Voices

New Citizens Voice run Your Voice Matters workshops for young people whose parents are new citizens living in the UK.

The workshop is FREE to attend and includes lunch, we also try to provide transport to the venue wherever possible.

Aims and Objectives of the Workshop:

  • To demonstrate how young people can influence local and national decisions that shape their lives.
  • Provide new young people with the skills, information and knowledge required for effective participation in UK life at local, national and European levels.
  • To help young people understand their voice matters.
  • Raise the profile of young people from all backgrounds in the British political system.
  • Show young people how the British political system and Parliament works.
  • Encourage young people to get involved in their local community and access available services.

At the workshops there are lots of things to do and the emphasis is on activities that are fun!

The next Young Voices workshop (for ages 9-13) will be held on Monday 18 May and Tuesday 16 June, with more planned for the whole year.

Previous Workshops

The most recent Young Voices workshop was held on 11th October, 2008 in the Mayor's Parlour, Kensington Town Hall. Congratulations to all that attended or supported the workshop and made it such a successful day!

The photos on this page are from a workshop held in the summer of 2008 at Pimento Supplementary School and Kensington Town Hall, in partnership with The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and RBKC Summer Uni 4U.
